There are many characteristics that make the difference between a good web hosting company and a great one. Although the monthly price you pay should be a consideration, you need to remember that you get what you pay for. In other words, a company that charges less may give you less in the way of GOOD support, and up-time for your site.

I got a web hosting account with one company who boasted a low monthly charge with a promise of 99.9% up-time and great support capability. I signed up and had to email the company asking for the information they SHOULD have sent in order for me to set up my site. To make a really long story short, the pièce de résistance was in my attempt to get a refund when dissatisfied with the service I was receiving. After six months of phone calls and emails I received no refund. For that reason, I will NEVER recommend GISOL as a web host.

I have found Ipowerweb to be consistent in their service, and superior in their support. I can confidently recommend IPOWERWEB to you as a good choice as your web hosting company.

If you're considering bringing up a web site, and you have a domain name in mind, i.e. yourcompanyname.com, you can perform a search from their web page to see if that name is available. If the name is taken already, they may recommend some alternatives. Domain name registration is included in the above stated Ipowerweb price.

I've discovered recently that Ipowerweb gives you the responsibility to scan the email you choose to download/upload to or from your computer for viruses. You SHOULD have a good antivirus program (Norton's is my favorite) running on your computer, and have it automatically update the virus definitions anyway.

One client signed up for a Domain Registration acct. and discovered that all that included was registering a domain name, and some email accounts...PERIOD. If trusted with your check card, or credit card info., I'd be more than happy to go through the web hosting account sign-up process for you.

IF you choose to get an account with Ipowerweb or another web host (they have competitive pricing & LIVE CHAT SUPPORT 24/7), be sure to put bjriverspeters@yahoo.com as the email address when filling in your account information upon sign-up. That way, they will send me the information I'll need for uploading your files to the web server in order to get your site online. If you place your own email address as the main email address, you'll be having to act as middle-man in emails that will need to be sent at times between myself and the Support Dept. of the web hosting company you choose. If you should decide to use another web designer in the future, it should be simple enough to change the email address on your account.
